Summer really is the perfect time to go on all the dates. We’re bronzed from the sun, we’ve got daylight savings on our side, and of course, the temperature is just oh-so-delicious. So, there’s no time like the present to grab that special someone and head off on some summer date adventures that will have you screaming, “good times, come at me!”

For The Romantics

Head to the Moonlight Cinema

The open-air cinema is back and it’s popping up in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth from December onwards. The 2018 – 2019 program has just been released for your viewing pleasure and it includes everything from ‘Dirty Dancing’ all the way through to your blockbusters like ‘A Star Is Born’, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and ‘Venom’. The best part is you can pre-purchase a picnic basket full of delicious movie snacks and BYO your date’s favourite wine or bubbles (well, everywhere apart from Brissy).

Find out all the information you need here at the Moonlight Cinema website where you can book your tickets and buy your date night hampers to treat that someone special. Nothing says romance like a good flick, cuddles underneath the stars, and a hamper filled with your favourite food and drinks. If you want to go all out, then some chocolate strawberries might just do the trick. Grab those bad boys from your local David Jones food hall and settle in for an evening of romance.

When: November 29, 2018 – March 2019

Where: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne & Perth

How: Head to the website to see your screenings in your cities. Tickets range from $20.00 - $35.00 depending on your choice of seating arrangements.

For Music Lovers

Rolling Loud

The world’s biggest hip-hop festival Rolling Loud is hitting Australian shores for the first time, and this one-day event is sure to bring some new energy to your dating repertoire. Past sell-out events have seen names like A$AP Rocky, Cardi B, and Post Malone grace the stages — and no matter what, we’ve got a feeling this will be a buzz-worthy day if the past line-ups are anything to go by. Dress up, get down on the dance floor with your date, and dance the night away to some of your favourite chart-topping artists.

When: January 27, 2019

Where: Sydney Showgrounds

How: Pre-sale tickets are available now and start at just $179.00.

For The Active Couple

Barrenjoey Lighthouse Walk

Maybe my favourite date of all time (albeit with a platonic friend) was a little day adventure to Barrenjoey. The walk to the lighthouse is steep, but an easy enough climb that you can chat along the way, and the views are incredible. It’s a great way to get to know someone outside of a dinner setting. And who doesn’t look great in active wear?!

If you’re driving that way, you might as well make a day of it, right? Barrenjoey House has just had a major upgrade and it’s perfect for a casual lunch on the water with your date. The restaurant does get super busy, so I’d recommend booking or getting there early to avoid disappointment, but it’s just the place to refresh and unwind in the sun with an Aperol and enjoy a beautiful day with your date.

When: Anytime, but I recommend booking on weekends to avoid disappointment.

Where: 1199D Barrenjoey Rd, Palm Beach

How: I’d take the car for sure. That way, you can also DJ while your date drives. You can bond over your mutual love of rap and/or the golden oldies. (Ok, maybe that’s just me wishing!)

Remember to relax into whatever adventure you embark on, and remember to have fun! Even if the date you’re going on isn’t your usual vibe, it’s a great way to try something new. There’s nothing like getting out and about to bring out the best in you. Not all dates need to be dinners. Think outside the box and get impressive with your date ideas!
