Meet the 25-Year-Old Dutch DJ Who Beat Hundreds to Win Making Move in Music
Back in November, Bumble announced its inaugural Making Moves in Music campaign and contest, designed in an effort to close the gender gap for women DJs and producers in a heavily male-dominated industry.
Last week, three finalists were taken to Los Angeles for yet another three-day intensive (read about the competition’s previous rounds here), this time with Universal’s record label Astralwerks. Over the course of 72 hours, the hopefuls worked one-on-one with major producers to produce their own demo track for Astralwerks, which will release the track of the winning artist.
After intense deliberation between Bumble’s partners, PR agency The Media Nanny, Dutch music giant ID&T, and record label Astralwerks, Bumble proudly presents the first-ever MMM artist: Nicky Elisabeth!
Nicky is a 25-year-old Dutch DJ and producer got her start at 18-years-old. Describing her own style as “melodic techno with a twist,” she’s no stranger to fierce competition. In 2017, she won the prestigious Dutch producer contest Vinylized.
Based in the Dutch capital, Nicky already has her own popular residency at Amsterdam’s club De Marktkantine. She’ll be taken to Miami Music Week in March where she’ll perform at the STMPD RCRDS stage at Ultra Music Festival. Following Ultra, Nicky will close the festival season with a performance at ID&T’s biggest summer festival, Mysteryland 2019.
Nicky inspired all involved in the Making Moves In Music initiative not only with her commitment and passion for music but the will to make her dreams come true. Stay tuned for our next call for musicians!
