Black Lives Matter: Bumble's Commitment to Action Against Racism in Australia

Bumble stands in solidarity with Indigenous Australians and the Black Lives Matter movement in the fight to dismantle white supremacy and end the systemic racism that plagues this country.

In the US we’ve committed USD$1 million across the following organisations: NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Black Women's Health Imperative, the Austin Justice Coalition and to community bail funds across the country.

Equality is at the core of our business mission, and our priority now is to increase our focus on advocating for BIPOC communities in Australia. As a first step, we have committed financial donations to the following organisations:

In addition to financial support for the above organisations, we’ll be engaging diverse voices on our channels and working with experts to ensure that our marketing campaigns, partnerships, and and social impact efforts are evaluated through a lens of intersectionality.

We’ll be matching employee donations to organizations supporting racial justice across our workforce of 700 worldwide. Bumble is also providing flexible, paid time off for those grieving, experiencing trauma, or simply needing to rest amid a climate of fear.

As a mission-driven company with a community of more than 90 million on our app, it’s Bumble’s duty to ensure our platform is not merely safe and inclusive but actively anti-racist. We’ve long had a no-tolerance policy towards hate speech, racism, bigotry, misogyny, and abusive behavior of any kind on our app. Since 2017, we’ve worked alongside the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), using artificial intelligence to identify hate symbols and using the ADL’s research and terminology as our standard.

It’s time to double down on our efforts.

We’re moving forward with a comprehensive audit across every part of our business, seeking to root out racism, bias, and inequity. We’re committed to sharing updates on our progress. We should have embarked on this long ago.

Black Lives Matter.

With solidarity,

Bumble
