How This Musician Went from Movie Theater Concession Stands To Recording Artist
Morgan Saint is a native New Yorker earning attention for the striking musical style and lilting vocals of her 2017 debut EP 17 HERO. It may seem like she effortlessly transitioned from being a full time Parsons student pursing illustration and photography to being a musician signed to Epic Records playing shows around the world. But to get there, it took one special connection who opened her eyes to new creative possibilities and propelled her in her artistic journey. Read about Morgan’s One Connection below.
What is the one connection that changed your professional and/or personal life?
One connection that changed my life is with artist/photographer, Sofia Colvin. I think it would be safe to call her my creative counterpart and best friend. We share a very special bond, and enjoy creating art together. She has opened my eyes and spirit to so many new things-- and for that, I am infinitely grateful.
What inspires you?
So many things inspire me. I could never name them all, but here’s a list of just a few off of the top of my head: relationships, colors, texture, light, wind, water, things that seem infinite, words, sounds, the sun, emotion, and human interaction.
What was your first job?
My first job was at a movie theater. I worked behind the concession stand!
What does it mean to you to be successful?
To me, success means a lot of different things. It means finding self fulfillment. It means making a difference in the world. It means making the people I care about feel loved.
If you could have any mentor in the world, who would it be?
This is a tough question! The first person who came to my mind was Bob Marley. So I would have to say him!
What was your dream job growing up?
My dream job has always been to be an artist.
What do you think is the biggest challenge people face in the music industry?
I am not sure. I am quite new to the industry, however, I would say it most likely varies from person to person. From my experience thus far, I have come to realize that touring and traveling can often be a bit lonely. I would imagine that other artist feel similarly.
