Bumble Seeks Women Artists for Iconic Berlin Mural
The top segment of the worldwide art market is still very much male-dominated. According to German business outlet Manager Magazin, of the top 50 most sought-after artists at auction sales, not a single one is a woman. When women’s art does sell at auction, it commands only half the price of men’s work.
As a female-first social network, Bumble wants to do our part to change that.
We’re launching an initiative called Access All Arts, offering one aspiring woman artist the opportunity to have her definition of women’s empowerment showcased at one of Berlin’s most iconic mural spaces.
From September 26th to October 8th, we’ll set out to find unknown women artists in the capital, calling for artistic submissions via our app. The winner will be chosen for her individuality, originality, and imagination.
The chosen piece will express diversity, bravery and confidence. It will shed light on individual stories, debunk stereotypes of what women’s empowerment means, and inspire all who see it. The work can exist in a variety of artistic forms, including graffiti, sketch, fine art, or painting.
The winning piece will be shown at one of Berlin's most vibrant squares in the Adalbertstrasse close to Kottbusser Tor, between Banksy and Blu.
To enter, match with the Access All Arts card inside the Bumble app, whether in Date, Bizz, or BFF mode. Applications will close on 8th October, with the winner announced on 12th October. The winning work will be produced in mural form and displayed from 29th October for a month.
